It’s a very rewarding feeling seeing people in the streets wearing something you’ve designed.
For a number of years, one of my fun side projects was working with the Insight and Arvust fashion designer at General Pants, producing all kinds of seasonal best-selling designs. Prior to starting the designs, we would brainstorm moodboards, references, research trends and print processes. Once the design is approved and completed, it’s sent off to be made, to hit the Australian market the following season.
This was a great opportunity to explore creativity without brand guidelines. After all, the main objective was to be trendy enough for the cool, off-beat kids to wear.
